German Cooling Maker Güntner Weighs Sale That Could Top €1 Billion

Published Sep 16, 2026
Share:
Summary:
  • Family-owned Güntner is considering selling the business, a move that may put the German cooling specialist's worth above €1 billion ($1.2 billion), according to people familiar.
  • The company hired an adviser to test interest from buyers, including strategic suitors, and initial offers were expected this week, the people said.
  • Advent, Blackstone Inc., Cinven and KKR & Co. are assessing a possible deal; representatives for those firms declined to comment, and Güntner didn't respond to messages.

Why This Is Heating Up

Data centers run hot, and that has turned cooling makers into hot properties. Approaching its 100th year and headquartered in Fürstenfeldbruck near Munich, Güntner manufactures air coolers and other heat exchange solutions used in sectors such as digital infrastructure. With server farms multiplying worldwide, demand for the gear that keeps them safe and stable is rising fast.

What's On The Block

People familiar with the situation said Güntner is working with an adviser and canvassing interest from both industry players and financial sponsors. Preliminary bids were slated for this week. Talks are active, but there is no assurance the process ends in a sale.

Spokespeople for Güntner did not reply to requests for comment. Spokespeople for Advent, Blackstone, Cinven and KKR offered no comment.

The Buyer Pool And Recent Comps

Private equity is leaning in to the data center cooling theme. Apollo Global Management Inc., which had held the asset for less than a year, struck a deal last month to sell Kelvion Inc., a German maker of cooling equipment, for $3.4 billion in cash. Earlier this year, KKR-run funds completed the sale of CoolIT Systems Inc. in a transaction valued at $4.75 billion. In that context, Advent, Blackstone Inc., Cinven and KKR & Co. are counted among the parties exploring a potential Güntner transaction.

What This Means For Your Portfolio

If a deal happens above €1 billion, it would mark a sizable outcome for Güntner and another data center cooling headline in a year full of them. Big-ticket sales in this niche can shift attention toward companies tied to digital infrastructure buildouts, from thermal management to power systems. If you are tracking where growth pockets are forming, this corner of industrial tech is one to keep on your radar.
