Anthropic PBC has reached a $35 billion agreement for computing with Lambda, a cloud company backed by Nvidia, as part of a push to expand its AI infrastructure quickly, a person with knowledge of the discussions said. The individual requested anonymity because the talks are private.
The Texas facility linked to the project in Nueces County is being built by infrastructure provider Hut 8. The Wall Street Journal previously detailed elements of the arrangement, including that Nvidia is expected to be the facility's lessee. Separately, Bloomberg reported last week that Lambda has been negotiating a fundraising of up to $3 billion and has weighed a valuation that may hit $12 billion or more, said people with knowledge of the discussions.
Nvidia - now the world's most valuable company and the top supplier of AI chips - has been deploying its financial strength to widen access to computing infrastructure, a move that in turn supports demand for its hardware. Anthropic now ranks among the leading purchasers of data center power. Last week, the Claude developer committed $45 billion to lease capacity from Nscale in West Virginia, and in recent months it has struck cloud pacts valued at $50 billion with neocloud Fluidstack Ltd. as well as $45 billion with Elon Musk's SpaceX. Lambda previously raised more than $1.5 billion in November and last year reached a pact with Microsoft Corp. to deploy AI infrastructure set to run on tens of thousands of Nvidia processors.

These agreements underscore Anthropic's accelerating demand for computing and power, while reinforcing Nvidia's central role in AI infrastructure. A spokesperson for Anthropic did not comment. Requests for comment to Nvidia, Lambda and Hut 8 did not receive an immediate reply.
