Summary:
  • Yuno, a payments company, closed a $45 million Series B round led by Global PayTech Ventures.
  • Andreessen Horowitz, Tiger Global, and QuantumLight Capital, the AI-focused venture firm created by Revolut CEO Nik Storonsky, also participated.
  • The company plans to expand its products, grow globally, and strengthen its Middle East presence with a new Doha office.

A $45 Million Round for a Cross-Border Payments Startup

Money moves around the world instantly, but the payment systems behind it often do not cooperate. For a business that sells in several countries, that means juggling currencies, banks, and local payment habits.

Each country has its own rules and payment methods, and setting all of that up takes time. Yuno, a payments-technology company, helps businesses handle payments across multiple markets.

Yuno announced a $45 million Series B round. A Series B is a funding stage for startups that are ready to grow after proving their business works.

Global PayTech Ventures led the round. The fresh funding will be directed toward broadening its product suite and pursuing international growth.

Big-Name Backers and a Qatar Tie

The investor list gives Yuno a lot of firepower. Andreessen Horowitz and Tiger Global, two of the biggest names in startup investing, both took part.

QuantumLight Capital, an AI-focused venture firm that Revolut CEO Nik Storonsky established, also participated. Two other new backers bring a Middle East connection.

Rasmal Ventures has backing from the Qatar Investment Authority. GrowthX Capital, an investing firm tied to Hamad Al-Hajri, founder of Snoonu, also joined.

Those ties fit the company's Middle East push. Yuno has established a Doha office and aims to strengthen its Middle East footprint, CEO Juan Pablo Ortega said.

He also said the company expects to reach profitability by the middle of the year. Reaching that point would mean covering its own costs, which is no small thing for a young company still spending to grow.

Many startups chase that milestone for years, and getting there would let Yuno expand without scrambling for its next round of cash.

Latin American Fundraising Is Cooling

Latin American venture capital fundraising is still far off the peaks seen during the pandemic. Latin American startups raised far less money in recent years than they did during the pandemic boom.

Startups in the region raised about $900 million in the first half of 2026.

That is below the $1 billion raised in the same period a year earlier.

It is also below the $2.6 billion the region attracted for all of 2025.

The regional record of $4.9 billion was set in 2022.

Yuno's round is small against those totals. It still pulled in investors from the U.S. and the Middle East.

What It Means for Your Money

You are unlikely to get a direct stake in Yuno. Private rounds like this usually go to big investment firms, not everyday investors.

Still, the company works in a corner of finance that touches you. Cross-border payments sit underneath online shopping, international transfers, and payments between businesses in different countries.

Most people do not think about that until a payment fails or a surprise fee shows up in the small print.

When a cross-border payment works, you barely notice it. When it goes wrong, you feel it in your wallet and your schedule.

When payments get easier and cheaper, the businesses building the systems are in a strong position. Yuno is one of many startups chasing that opportunity, and the investor lineup shows the opportunity is global.

None of this guarantees Yuno will succeed. Startup investing is risky, and plenty of well-funded companies never find their footing.

For your portfolio, the bigger point is the direction. Startup funding moves in cycles, but the long-term shift toward global digital payments is not slowing down.
