Holtec files to raise up to $900 million in US IPO

Published Sep 8, 2026
Share:
Summary:
  • Holtec Nuclear Corp. filed Tuesday to sell up to 50 million shares at $15 to $18 each, targeting as much as $900 million.
  • The Camden, New Jersey company plans to list on the Nasdaq Stock Market and Nasdaq Texas under the ticker HNUC.
  • In the half-year period through June 30, Holtec posted $205.6 million in profit on $269.9 million of revenue, compared with $139 million on $286.6 million in the prior year period.

The IPO pitch

Holtec is aiming for a $15 to $18 price range. If it prices at the top, the math in its filing implies a market value near $10.2 billion based on the stated outstanding shares. The underwriting lineup includes JPMorgan Chase & Co., Guggenheim Securities, Goldman Sachs Group Inc., Citigroup Inc. and Bank of America Corp.

What Holtec builds

The company produces storage containers made of steel and concrete for nuclear waste and serves as the leading US firm handling the decommissioning of shut-down reactors; its portfolio includes Indian Point, just north of New York City. The company is also advancing its own reactor technology. Its small modular reactor program won a $400 million US Department of Energy grant in December, and the goal is to have units operating in the early 2030s.

Why now

Nuclear is back in the conversation as AI data centers search for more dependable power. But small modular reactors are not yet on the US market, and investor patience is getting tested. Standard Nuclear Inc., which listed in July, slipped on day one even after trimming its IPO size. X-Energy Inc., public since April, is trading below its offering price.

What it could mean for your money

If it prices, HNUC would be a pure-play window into nuclear waste storage, decommissioning work and the long build toward modular reactors. The current scorecard is solid - $205.6 million in first-half profit on $269.9 million in revenue - but the longer term swings with how fast SMRs move from grants to grid connections.
